Assessment
Your first session will be an in-depth diagnostic lasting about 60 minutes. We will review any current and past medical or psychiatric illness symptoms, current and prior treatments as well as coping skills (what works, what doesn't). We will review contributing environmental, familial, financial, behavioral, and social elements impacting your mental health. We will then discuss diagnosis and collaborate on an individualized treatment plan that honors your goals. You will have the opportunity to ask questions. You may bring a family member or friend in this session if you feel it would be helpful. Notably, if you are over the age of 14, you do not require parental consent for treatment; however, family involvement for teen clients is encouraged.

Follow-up
At this visit, we will assess your response to treatment plan interventions and make adjustments as needed. These may include medication, dietary supplementation, educational accommodations, outside referrals, or therapy. Risks and benefits of each option will be described to you and your personal preferences for treatment will be integrated. If you need a prescription, your medication will be sent same day electronically to the pharmacy of your choice. Follow-up sessions are usually 30-40 minutes based on your needs but can be shorter for patients in remission of symptoms (feeling better and just checking in). Length of session is client-driven. For your convenience, appointment requests can be made online through your patient portal.

Labwork Request
You may require a blood, urine or hair sample taken at the lab. This is how important information is gained about the state of homeostasis in your body, how your body is reacting to stress in your environment, and sometimes, how your body is reacting to your medication. The lab form may be sent directly to the lab or given to you as a paper slip. Your lab orders will be carefully explained to you and, of course, you will have time to ask questions to clarify. If you have recently had the same bloodwork with another provider, we are happy to receive those records in place of the new orders.

Individual Therapy
Medication cannot do all of the "heavy lifting" of mental wellness. Life is stressful and we are each learning every age and stage for the first time. Many clients value the time they have in session to work through the difficulty of grief and loss, stage of life transitions, fear of abandonment, loneliness, bullying, existential dread, relational/interpersonal difficulties, academic performance stress, and/or struggles with authenticity or imposter syndrome.
Therapeutic treatment modalities used in session include supportive therapy, behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, solution-focused brief therapy and unconditional positive regard.
Incl. in cost of appointment

Family Therapy
To unpack and hold space for entrenched family or support system dynamics, a family therapy referral may be provided. For those struggling with new diagnoses, educational difficulties or serious mental illness, supportive sessions with the family and illness education may be provided at the discretion of the patient. Collateral is always welcome but release of information will need to be signed by the patient if they would like OIP to communicate with anyone about their care. All care is CONFIDENTIAL
Incl. in cost of appointment

Referrals & Collaboration
Medical illness is sometimes the true root cause of psychiatric symptoms. Referrals to rule out organic causes of psychopathology may include referrals to a sleep specialist, nutritionist, cardiologist, neurologist, or functional medicine practitioner.
Referrals to complementary practices such as acupuncture, massage therapy, float tank immersion therapy, and forest bathing may also be provided. Some of these may sound strange but they are all backed by current literature!
